Introduction
This year there has been an internal selection by the Macedonian broadcaster MRKTV to determine the Eurovision entry for Lisbon out of 382 submitted songs. The choice felt to the popular group Eye Cue, which was found in the year 2008. The band consists of Marija Ivanovska, Bojan Trajkovski and the drummer Ivo Mitkovski.
With the song "Not this time" Eye Cue reached the Top 20 of the MTV Adria charts. In 2015 they won the Skopje Festival with the song “Ubava”. Eye Cue is known for their live acts playing on different festivals in FYR Macedonia and the Balkan. Their music style can be described as mix of alternative rock and pop. The group released several singles and two albums. The third one is going to be release this year in spring.
With the Eurovision entry “Lost And Found” Eye Cue are going to represent the FYC Macedonian colours in Lisbon. The song is about a deep and unconditional love. The music style is modern pop song with a catchy chorus, which appears happier than the songs they are usually producing. Due to the fact that they are experts in live gigs, it will all depend on their stage show in Lisbon to bring back a place in the Grand Final.
History
The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is participating for the 18th time this year in Lisbon. The debut entry “Ne Zori, Zoro” by Vlado Janevski in 1998 came 19th in the final in Birmingham. It was great to see that the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has joined the Eurovision family as well.
The former Yugoslavia took part 27 times and the debut was made in 1961 and there was one victory in 1989 with the group Riva and “Rock Me”.
In the first years from 2004 FYR Macedonia always qualified for the final. This was also due to the fact that the neighbour countries helped with their votes. But this has changed, since 2008 FYR Macedonia did not make it to the final anymore, but the lovely singer Kaliopi could change this in 2012. She was the first one to reach the final again with “Crno I Belo”, she even reached the 13th place in the Grand Final in Baku. The reason for the non-qualifying years had probably more to do with songs which were not preliminary made for an international audience and therefore did not met the European taste. Since 2013 FYR Macedonia is struggling with the qualification.
