Introduction
It’s great to see Bosnia & Herzegovina back in the ESC after an absence of three years due to financial reasons. This year the broadcaster BHRT has arranged a song presentation instead of a national final in monumental building in Sarajevo. This is also the place where video clip has been filmed.
The choice of the broadcaster felt to four artists: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner & Jala. The most known singer is Deen, he has already made a 9th place with “In The Disco” for Bosnia & Herzegovina back in Istanbul 2004. Deen, whose real name is Fuad Backovic was born in 1982 in Sarajevo, he studied singing and opera, joined several bands and even sang in “Carmina Burana” in a Bosnian production in Sarjevo. Deen has changed is look completely from 2004 to now, it can be said that he became a real man now.
Dalal is also a well-known Bosnian singer, born in Sarajevo in 1981. Dalal joined the group R&B group Erato. She has released two albums.
Ana Rucner was born in Zagreb in 1983 and is a Croatian cellist. Her career started in the age of seven, as her family are all musicians. Ana was also part of the Philharmonic orchestra in Maribor, Slovenia.
Jala, whose real name is Jasmin Fazlic, was born in Sarajevo 1986, is a Bosnian rapper. He founded the hip hop band BluntBylon.
Together all these artists are going to represent Bosnia & Herzegovina in Stockholm this year.
The song “Ljubav Je”- which means “Love Is” will be sung in Bosnian. It’s a song about love, the good and the bad things. The unusual composition combines Balkan pop, ethnic elements with rap which is accompanied by the sound of a cello. The sound is bombastic and dramatic. Judging by the video clip Dalal and Deen are singing fervently to reach the Grand Final. The difficulty for the viewers might be that there are too many elements in this song, so it might be hard to get this as one.
History
This will be the 19th time for Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest already! The debut entry in 1993 was “Sva Bol Svijeta” by Fazla and made the 16th place. Before that Bosnia & Herzegovina has been a part of Yugoslavia.
Yugoslavia had its debut in 1961, the last Yugoslav entry was “Ljubim Te Pesmama” by Extra Nena in 1992, which reached the 13th place in Malmö. There was one victory for Yugoslavia in 1989 “Rock me” by Riva. In the meantime Bosnia & Herzegovina has become a strong contender. Unfortunately, this country had to pause for three years 2013 – 2015 due to financial reasons.
Unbelievable that this country has such a persistence in competing year after year with outstanding contributions. It’s great to see them back in the contest.
The Bosnian & Herzegovinian songs made it 18 times into the Grand Final and six times in the Top10, so there is an approximate chance to reach a Top10 position of 32%.
