For the second time the Latvian broadcaster LTV has arranged a national final called “Supernova”. Last year’s result was enormously successful. Aminata could make a fantastic 6th place in Vienna with “Love Injected”. This year Aminata Savadogo has composed the entry “Heartbeat” for Justs. In the Supernova show there have been a lot of creative entries, but “Heartbeat” sung by the sympathetic singer Justs has convinced both TV spectators and the juries and made him to the representative for Latvia in Stockholm. He has been the big favourite for weeks.

Justs Sirmais was born in Kekava (south of Riga), Latvia in 1995. He studied guitar and piano and has started practiced his talent as a street musician in Riga. Justs has gained some music experiences with the band Gacho and also been on tour with the funk-rock band Tax Free and Bunch of Gentlemen. With his participation at the Supernova festival the 21 years old Justs started his singing career.

“Heartbeat” is a modern mid-tempo song with an electro beat. There is a strong chorus and an eclectic sound of a submarine. Knowing that Aminata has written the song, which makes the whole concept even more exciting. Aminata knows what is necessary to consist in the Eurovision Song Contest. The love song “Heartbeat” will definitely push the European heartbeats and there will be a lot of votes flying for Latvia!

In the short history of Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest, the biggest success came in the third year after the debut. In 2002 Marie N. could convince with sexy dance performance „I wanna“, this was also a little surprise. The following ESC 2003 took place in the wonderful capital of Latvia: Riga. Latvia describes itself as “the land that sings” which origins in the long singing tradition which takes place in singing festivals all over the country. This can also be said from the neighbour country Estonia.

From 2009 until 2014 Latvia could not reach the Grand final anymore, even if the Latvian songs seem to be contemporary, but a lovely young girl named Aminata could impress everybody with her self-composed song “Love Injected” and brought back a lot of Eurovision enthusiasm to Latvia. Even if the Latvians love to sing, but obviously did not hit the European taste for many times, let’s hope that Aminata’s success can be continued. The chances to reach a Top10 position is now at 24% for Latvia.
