Participant(s): Bojana Stamenov |
IntroductionThe Serbian broadcaster RTS has organized a national final, after pausing last year. There were three finalists and the most powerful singer has won with the majority of televotes – Bojana Stamenov. All songs have been composed by Vladimir Graić, who has also composed the first winning entry “Molitva” for Marija Šerifović back in 2007. The singer Bojana Stamenov was born in Belgrade, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia) in 1986. Since her early childhood Bojana liked to sing, she also learned guitar and laute (a folkloristic instrument). In 2012 she participated in the TV show “Serbia Got Talent” and came third. From that moment she was celebrated as the Serbian Adele or Aretha Franklin. Bojana’s music style can be described as soul, jazz and R’n’B orientated. Her powerful voice is dominating in all her songs. The song “Beauty Never Lies” is a strong anthem like song with a rhythm change from ballad to disco. The unique presence on stage Bojana is going to have in Vienna will be taken over in a very funny and unselfish way in the video clip. The extraordinary idea is a very clever one in the same way, it’s not Bojana appearing to sing that song, and it’s the internet users. The Serbian team has called out to send video clips no matter where they are from, with the chance to appear in the video clip. The outcome is a very interesting and funny collage of people singing “Beauty Never Lies”. She has often proofed her sense of humour and that’s good recipe to challenge the ESC. Even if the song has been written by a former ESC winner Vladimir Graić (composer 2007) it’s no guarantee for another victory. He has also composed the Slovenian entry 2012 in Baku, the song did not pass the qualifying round.
HistoryDebut: 2007
In the year of 2007 Serbia had its debut as independent country and there was one girl from Serbia who has captured the European hearts by a storm - Marija Šerifović. Her power ballad “Molitva” was the big favourite from the beginning. With the incredible touching stage performance she could easily win the ESC. The year after Serbia had the honour to host the ESC for the first time in the capital of Belgrade. It was a terrific show with one of the most beautiful ESC stages ever. The entire Balkan with all the neighbouring countries was proud that the ESC was held in Belgrade. |
