IntroductionThe Hungarian national pre selection is called „A Dal“and has become very popular in the recent years. This show being seen as a trend barometer for new talents in the Hungarian music scene. An expert jury is selecting the best singers and songs and at the end the Hungarian public can determine the winner via televoting. This year’s choice was excellent, a lot of potential singers were in the final. One of the most outstanding and unusual entries was “Wars For Nothing” by Boggie who could make the race. Another time there will be song of peace, as there have been quite a few over the years in the Eurovision Song Contest. Nowadays it seems to be a more important topic of people. Boggie is a music project by two songwriters and singers Boglárka Csemer and Áron Sebestyén. The 28 years old main singer Boglárka was born in 1986 and met Áron to compose pop and jazz music in Hungarian, French and English. The most outstanding song was “Nouveau Parfum”, more than 10 million people watched this video clip on YouTube. It shows how the singer Boglárka is being transformed with an image editor, a very good idea though. Many of their songs having socio-political lyrics, that’s why “Wars For Nothing” will also has a strong message. The performance of the Hungarian entry is plain, touching and convincing. Everything starts slow and smoothly. A very good choir will accompany Boggie on stage and the voices confluence in a very harmonic and beautiful way. This song will definitely stand out in Vienna as it’s a peace song, well sung and emotional. The beautiful singer Boglárka has a special charisma which makes her very sympathetic.
HistoryDebut: 1994
Hungary had its debut with “Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet” by Friderika Bayer in 1994 and came 4th with a big surprise. A remarkable placing in the debut year, also for other newcomers like Poland (2nd) and Russia (7th), they all shaped up very well in Dublin. From that debut year Hungary did not participate on a regular basis, the biggest pause has been between 1998 and 2005.
For Hungary it’s the 13th participation in the ESC, reached the Grand Final six times and four times Hungary could be found in the Top10, that means the chance to reach the Grand Final is 31%.
