Participant(s): Harel Skaat Song: Milim Writer(s): Noam Horev Composer(s): Tomer Adaddi |
Since 1973 Israel belongs to the Eurovision club. Due to the fact that geographically Israel does belong to Asia, there were many discussions in the past. The Eurovision Song Contest does not take geographical borders. The country must be in the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Morocco took part once in 1980, even Lebanon has almost entered the contest in 2005, but has withdrawn its participation, so generally it’s open to all countries which are EBU members, also Australia could have a go. Three times Israel got the crown of Eurovision: “A ba ni bi” by Izahr Cohen in 1978, one year later with “Hallelujah” by Milk and Honey and “Diva” by Dana International in 1998. Beside of the winning songs, Israel has been proofed as one of the contest with the strongest contributions. There were many 2nd and 3rd places, and the melodies are still present to many people. Last year, one the most popular singers of Israel took part: Noa. So Israel qualified for the final again and came 16th at the end. “Milim” is the title of Israel’s entry 2010 in Oslo. The attractive singer Harel Skaat has been determined by the Israeli TV and there were four songs by four different composers to choose from. “Milim” is a wonderful ballad sung with full of devotement. Harel is normally more specialized into independent rock style. This song will stand out of the others, because the arrangement and the enthusiasm in a combination with the singer works very well. This is not even qualifying for the final, this might even win the contest. Good luck Israel.
