Participant(s): Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders Song: Life looks better in spring Writer(s): Nasos Lambrianidis Composer(s): Nasos Lambrianidis, Melis Konstantinou |
Cyprus regularly takes part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1981. The Cypriot entries were always highly voted by Greece and vice versa, of course the musical and cultural roots are very close connected. Good to see, that also Turkey is also giving Cyprus points in recent years. The best result was the 5th rank- for three times - in 1982 with “Mono I Agapi” by Anna Vishy, “Mana Mou” by Chara and Andreas Konstantinou in 1997 and “Stronger Every Minute” by Lisa Andreas in 2004. Unfortunately, since 2005 Cyprus has never been qualified for the final. Cyprus also had a pre selection to choose the song for Oslo. The Welsh singer Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders won the ticket to Norway. The simple song “Life looks better in spring” doesn’t have anything traditional, no folklore and no bouzouki. It has nothing which would identify the song as Cypriot, which is a pity. As the song has no musical climax it will probably perish in the Semi Final.
