Poland had it’s debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994. Edyta Gorniak could even receive a second rank with “To nie ja”. Since then, Poland is known for extravagant and unique compositions. The Polish music is appreciated well all over Europe. Edyta Gorniak is still successful and is collaborating with international singers like Jose Carreras. Poland has never really profited from the Eastern Block voting, it’s not really successful in the Russian speaking countries, even if the melodies and arrangements were very international. So, Poland has often send, popular Polish singers to Eurovision and the country is following the contest with great enthusiasm. Last year there was also a great ballad called “For Life”, it has been a qualifier from the semi final, but unfortunately could not convince in the big final. Isis Gee had to share the last rank, together with the No Angels from Germany. Obviously, it has been more a matter of nervousness than of song quality. This year Lidia Kopania is going to sing another extraordinary ballad “I don’t wanna leave”. This is one of the most beautiful songs of this year, sung with lots of passion and harmony. This song is also very international and doesn’t sound Polish at all. The video clip is amazing and stands out of the others. After so many years, also Poland deserves a good ranking in the Top 3. Congratulations!
