Participant(s): Nelly Ciobanu Song: Hora Din Moldova Writer(s): Nelly Ciobanu Composer(s): Veaceslav Daniliuc |
One of the newer countries in the ESC is Moldova. Since it’s short participation the country has proofed as quite innovative and successful. The best rank for Moldova could be reached in the debut year 2005 with “Zdob si Zdub” performed by Boonika Bate Toba (6th rank) – remember the grandma in the swinging chair! Also very successful was the 2007 participation “Fight” by Natalia Barbu (10th rank), which really showed the innovative energy by Moldovan composers. Moldova often surprises! And this is a surprise! The very folkloristic entry “Hora din Moldova” is about the Moldovans like to dance and how proud they are on their country’s tradition. This song is fast and accelerating, Nelly is really not to underestimate. During the promo concert in Amsterdam she was rocking the place and surprisingly convinced with her live performance. From the first impressions in the Moldovan pre decision to now it happened an enormous improvement. Hats off! |
