 For the 8th time Hungary is participating in the Eurovision Song Contest. Since the debut in 1994 with “Kinek monjam el vetkeimet” performed by Friderika Bayer, Hungary does not participate regularly.
Hungary does not have a big music industry, as well as many other Eastern European countries, so the Eurovision is an important opportunity to be noticed by the international markets. This is the reason why Hungary sends so different entries to Eurovision, from ballad to blues, and from folklore to pop, the Hungarian music style is very varied.
This year the Hungarian television had some difficulties to find the right representative. Two of the determined singers have withdrawn from the contest due to personal reasons, so now it’s the chance for Zoli Adok with “Dance with me”. This is probably the most modern song Hungary ever send to Eurovision. “Dance with me” is a real danceable and up to date dancefloor song, as the headline already promises. A strong beat with a catchy melody is a guarantee that this song won’t be overheard. This song could end up very well, when the live performance is convincing. If you consider that the average quality of this year’s songs, is lower than last year, Hungary definitely has an advantage. Zoli’s video clip is excellent and if he is bringing the same show to Moscow, his place in the final will be for sure. |
