Cyprus has never won the contest so far. The best position in the Eurovision history was the 5th rank and this happened three times: “Mono I Agapi” by Anna Vishy (1982), “Mana Mou” by Chara and Andreas Konstantinou (1997) and “Stronger Every Minute” by Lisa Andreas (2004). Cyprus has often send Greek styled song with Bouzouki to Eurovision, so the votes from Greece were for sure. But also other countries from the Mediterranean were often generous to Cyprus, as the taste of music is similar in Southern Europe. The most popular Eurovision singer from Cyprus is Evridiki. She has participated three times already. Her best position was rank 11 for two times. She has always sticked to her one’s principles in the music taste so her main goal was to represent herself and her country with pride. The final position was secondary for her. All of her songs were very original and super.

This year Cyprus’ chances for victory are minimal. First of all, Christina Metaxa has to qualify in the semi final. Then Cyprus will just start immediately after the big favorite Norway, that makes it even more difficult. Judging by the video clip and the pre decision, the song belongs to the weakest of this year. This is a real lullaby. Christina has problems to hold the tones in the important three minutes, so it doesn’t sound very well. Unfortunately, the song doesn’t have any highlight at all and ripples along. Even if she is a lovely person, this song won’t succeed in this competition. Sorry Cyprus!
