Participant(s): Miodio Song: Complice Writer(s): Nicola Della Valle Composer(s): Francesco Sancisi |
There are two new countries at Eurovision: Azerbaijan and San Marino. The Eurovision family has grown to 43 countries this year, and this is an absolute record. There were even more countries, but some have withdrawn like Austria and Monaco. Some countries have not returned yet and it’s still open if they will ever come back like Luxembourg, Slovakia and Italy. Many people are disappointed that Italy is not participating anymore, they have always send great artists with incredible songs. Last time Italy was in the contest in 1997 with Jalisse’a “Fiumi di parole” and came 4th. Jalisse have also participated this year in the predecision of San Marino. But Miodico received the ticket for Belgrade. In a way it’s a kind of replacement of Italy. San Marino will sing in Italian and brings the Italian way of life back to Eurovision. “Complice” is modern and young song, probably nothing for elderly people expecting to hear a classic Italian ballad. It’s more a soft rock tune, which need to be heard several times to get used to it. This song does not convince by first hearing, which is so terribly important at Eurovision, where the first impression counts only.
