Participant(s): Diana Gurtskaya Song: Peace Will Come Writer(s): Karen Kavaleryan Composer(s): Kim Breitburg |
This is the second time for Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest. After a really great debut last year in Helsinki, Sopho showed with “My Story” that the musical potential of Georgia can reach the hearts all over the world. Many people were impressed of this special and modern song and expected Sopho to win. This year the chances of winning aren’t less. The lovely singer Diana is blind and is going to sing “Peace will come”. Her video clip is impressive and shows that war is still a topic nowadays and the great hope that peace will come. Maybe that’s the best message this year and the fact that she is blind makes it even more realistic. There were quite a few blind singers at Eurovision: Serafin from Spain and Corinna May from Germany. The main difficulty for blind singers is the stage presentation, they can’t dance, and the optical perspective is necessarily important for the live performance. The singers can’t see their outfits and how they appear on stage. So many people will vote for them, because of this disadvantage the singers may go through. Don’t underestimate Georgia this year, maybe we are going to have the Eurovision in Tiblis 2009? |
