The Swiss have been very disappointed that DJ Bobo did not reach the final in Helsinki last year. They have sent the country’s most popular and well known singer and he failed unluckily. It can be risky to send well known singers, because they have to mess with newcomers and the success or breakdown will be determined in only three minutes. Everything must be perfect, the voice the stage appearance and the light in the eyes – the winner smile. This is maybe the formula to win Eurovision. DJ Bobo did not have the best voice at that evening and this has been noticed very well by the audience and TV spectators who did not vote for him. Honestly there were better singers at that year. The Swiss TV representative said that if they don’t win with DJ Bobo, they will never ever win again. That might not be true, Switzerland is presenting one of the strongest songs of the year. The Swiss entry is a kind of classic song with a strong melody, sung in Italian by an attractive singer and the song has a climax and a rhythm change. This song might have also been send 20 years ago, but with success. These kinds of songs brought the flowers of the Swiss success in the Eurovision history – remember Daniela Simons with “Pas Pour Moi” in 1986. “Era Stupendo” will not be the only song in Italian, for the first time San Marino will take part at the Eurovision Song Contest. In a way it’s a kind of replacement of Italy, until they might come back – hopefully. Good Luck Switzerland! |
