Belarus had it’s debut at Eurovision in 2004. Since then there were quite a few crazy attempts to grap attention, remember Angelica Agurbash’s desperate show in Kiev with “Love me tonight”. For countries like Belarus the Eurovision Song Contest is the only chance to show their music to a worldwide audience, how and where can you listen to Belarussian pop music? Last year Philip Kirkorov – the Eurovision mogul from Russia – helped out and composed a very up to date song for Koldun, who made it into the final show and came 6th. Philip really knows by heart, how the show is going on, what is necessary to have a good stand from the beginning to the end. Everything must be perfect, the video clip, the costumes, the light, the sound and the whole stage performance must be 100%. Bad luck for Belarus this year – Philip Kirkorov is the composer of Ani Lorak’s song for the Ukraine. But Ruslan’s song “Hasta la vista” has been enhanced dramatically, too. There is nothing much left from the beginning of the predecision to now when you watch the video clip. It sound absolutely international, but Ruslan is not the new Koldun. This song is far away from “Work your magic”. So there won’t be a Minsk 2009! |
