Where is Armenia? This question will be asked many times this year. The European Broadcasting Union is bigger than you may think. From North Africa to Australia - many country belong to that organisation which organizes the Grand Prix since 1956. Every year the field of participating countries is changing. There are countries which take part every year like France or United Kingdom. Unfortunately there are also countries disappearing like Luxembourg (due to financial reasons), Italy (due to the San Remo Festival) and Austria (due to the bad result from last year). But luckily there are always interesting newcomers like last year Moldova with the drumming grandma - a really original contribution. Armenia's neighbour countries Georgia and Azerbaijan have already announced their interest in participating next year! Armenia - the land in the Caucasus is sending it's most popular singer to Athens. The song "Without Your Love" is a modern song, which is not hiding it's Caucasian influences. We wish Armenia the best of luck. |
