Since the Iron Curtain has fallen, many Eastern European countries are able to take part and therefore the competition has gone much harder. All these new countries try their very best to be well represented internationally on stage and send good songs, good singers, present great videoclips and extraordinary shows on stage. The old-etablished countries appeared boring and mouldy in comparison. There are many new trends and new exotic sounds and rhythms which also succeeded, like Ruslanas "Wild Dances" from the Ukraine. This will have an end, now the UK is coming with a quite exotic entry called "Touch my fire" by Javine. It's a mixture of "Wild Dances" and "Everway that I can" (Sertab 2003). This is absolut unusual for a UK entry. We will see how this new concept works! |
