Participant: Birgitta Haukdal Song: Segðu mér allt (Open your heart) Writer(s): Hallgrímur Óskarsson Composer(s): Hallgrímur Óskarsson and Birgitta Haukdal |
From Iceland there were always great inspirations for the Eurovision Song Contest in the past years. This year the 23 years old singer Britta Haukdal from Husavik (Northern Iceland) will sing for the most northern country of Europe. The English sung title "Open your heart" is very modern and innovative - as well as the video-clip. It's a catchy and interesting song which may brings Iceland into the Top 5 this year. Brigitta succeeded clearly in the national pre-decision among 14 competitors. In the year 2001 she already took part in the pre-decision and came 7th. She was member of the popgroup Irafar and received platinum for the album "Allt sem eg se". She is the pop-star of the year in Iceland. Out of interest is the inspiration of the composer to write the song. Hallgrimer Oskarsson travelled to Sweden and he's got inspired by the beautiful island of Stockholms "Djurgarden". He was fascinated by the creative atmosphere of that very moment and wrote the song "Open your heart". However there were rumors about similarities with Richard Marx' song "Right here waiting". But luckily, those rumors could not be confirmed for Brigitta. Those reproaches came from Paul Oscar, who sang for Iceland 1997 in Dublin. |
