Estonia is quite successful in the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as the southern neighbor Latvia. The win of Tanel Padar and Dave Benton with "Everybody" brought a lot of attention for Estonia in the world. The Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Talllin belongs to the most beautiful contests of the last years. The Estonian entry this year really is totally different from all the other songs, which are presented generally at Eurovision. The band Ruffus (formerly Claire's Birthday) is singing "Eighties coming back" and mourning for the wonderful time of the 80's, which is extremely well made, because the song really sounds of the typical timbre of the 80's. The outfit of the band is going to be quite suitable to the passed decade: colored shirts with even more colored ties. "Fanaticism is our trump" the band says. That the reason for chucking down school and jobs. The melody and the whole arrangement of the song is brilliant and it depends on the presentation on the stage in Riga - but it is more than a reality that Estonia could be found on the number one position! |
