What would the Eurovision Song Contest be without Slovenia? Since 1993 Slovenia takes part. They are always sending great songs into the European final - even if they haven't received that many points - they are still evergreens. Just remember last years singer Nusa with "Energy" in Copenhagen and the lovely Darja Svaiger in 1995 with "Prisluhni mi". There were likewise the Slovenian entries with the best results. In this year Slovenia receives an overwhelming attention. In the predescion in Slovenia there was trouble with the televoting system. And it wasn't clear if Sestre could go to Tallinn for a certain time. To be honest - it is one of the most extraordinary and shrillest entries in the Eurovision so far - beside of Dana International's "Diva". There have never been stewardesses on a Eurovision stage. The Slovenian people were not that convinced firstly that transvestites will represent their country in Tallinn. So there were a lot of discussions about it. By the meantime - so Marlena - they love them in Slovenia and the whole county stands behind them. It's a matter of tolerance! Sestre (Sisters) is a transvesite group, which already exists since two years and they are very popular especially in the gay scene. There are Marlena (she speaks fluently German!), Daphne and Empatrizz. They are singing "Samo ljubzen" (Only Love) in Slovenian. But there is also a German version on the CD. The song should sound very good in German - they said, especially there are word like "geil" which can mean great and horny, too! For Marlena the Eurovision Song Contest is that special so that there is as much interest in it than her private brithday or christmas. The trio will be seen only as ladies during this Eurovision week, so nobody will know if they are as much attractive as men. Would we have loved to see them walking in the Old Town of Tallinn, with high heels on cobble-stone pavement - it would have been a thrill! Slovenia has the far best videoclip this year: eccentric, funny and erotic! If the Eurovision Song Contest would have been a video contest, they will have landed on the first rank, that's for sure! They have promised to present a wonderful show on Saturday night in front of possibly 640 million TV-spectators! |
