Participant: Monica Anghel & Marcel Pavel |
One of the newer countries in the exclusive club of Eurovision countries is Romania. They celebrated their debut in 1994 with "Dincolo di nori" performed by Dan Bitmann. Romania only took part three times until now. Unfortunately they werde never high voted. The best rank so far was in 2000 when they ended up on the 17th rank. Eurovision is a quite important thing for the countries of the former "Eastern Block". They are now able to show that they have musical talents all around the world. Otherwise, who would buy music from Romania? Romania will be represented by a duo this year: Monica Anghel and Marcel Pavel. They are going to sing a melancholy ballad called "Tell me". They use the new rules of the EBU: they are allowed singing in English. Monica has studied singing in the USA and after that she graduated at the Bucharest University in drama. She is a very popular artist in Romania and has a powerful voice. She sang "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston on the pressconference on Tuesday. Marcel is called "the best voice of Romania". He also sang "Nessun Dorma" from the Puccini. He already won several festivals in his country and hat some hits in the charts in Romania. |
