Participant: Sarit Hadad Song: Light a candle Writer(s): Yoav Ginai Composer(s): Svika Pick |
The Israeli delegation has arrived in Talllinn with a high level of security. There is a certain number of bodyguards who secure the Israeli team. This is due to the political situation. The singer, who will represent the Holy Land this year is named Sarit Hadad and she is only 23 years old. She is shortly awarded as "Best Female Artist in Israel". Sarit is also well known in the neighbour states of Israel - especially in Jordan! The composer and author of this years song is made by Svika Pick and Yoav Ginai, who already had a big success in Birmingham 1998 with "Diva" sung by Dana International, who enchanted and also shocked the world. But this years entry "Light a candle" is totally different. It is a wonderful ballad, which sounds almost sad. The candles should symbolize peace - which we all would like to have. The Eurovision Song Contest enjoys a huge interest in Israel since many years, it is the most popular TV-show of the year. The only unanswered question is, if Israel would win, is it possible to host it in Israel? |
