It is the first time in the history of Finland in Eurovision that there is a real good chance for a victory. In former years the Finns had bad luck, they always shaped up very badly - beside of one success in 1973 with Marion Runge "Tom Tom Tom". The reason for that bad luck is maybe the unsuitable Finnish language for singing.

Laura is a 28 years old lady, who was sent in a music-kindergarten as a child. She learnt to play the cello in a very early age. With 15 she sang in a band called "Kevytinja". Laura's first major appearance was in 1993 with her single "Muutanut oot maailamain" (You changed my world). The following song was as well a hit "Kerran" (Once). Her first album was released in 1994 and was sold over 120.000 times! She was awarded twice for the "Emmy" in 1994 and in 1996.

Her song "Addicted to you", which she is going to sing for Eurovision doesn't meet the musical taste of the Finns. Normally the Finns listen to more melancholy songs. This is due to the long and cold and especially dark winters in Finland. "Addicted to you" is a real happy song, which has great chances becoming a huge summer hit throughout Europe. Laura's positive aura and her aim to win are the best suppotions to win the contest.

The rehearsals today prooved another time that the Finnish entry is nearly perfect: mordern and catchy. Paljon onnea Finland!
