Participant(s): Greta & Jónsi Song:Never forget Writer(s): Gréta Salóme Composer(s): Gréta Salóme |
Introduction There has been a national final in Iceland with several legs like in the past few years. There was an outcome with a combination of 50% jury and 50% televoting. The winners for Iceland are Greta & Jónsi. In 2004, Iceland has already been represented by Jónsi with the ballad "Heaven" and unfortunately came 19th only. The attractive and very sympathetic singer has a very voluminous voice. With his partner, Greta, there is a duet of a special kind. The song "Mundu eftir number" roughly means "Never forget". The song has some folkloric elements with a strong and confident chorus. However, the only thing which can harm the qualification is the missing of a little easiness. So this entry will definitely polarize in Baku. History For Iceland, there is the 25th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest this year, so there is something to celebrate. With the debut song "Gledinbankin" by Icy the Icelandic participants could only reach the 16th place, but Iceland has achieved some good results over the years. Overall, there were two times a second place with "All out of luck" by Selma in 1999 and "Is it true?" by Yohanna in 2009. In addition, there were also some top 10 places. Over the years there have been truly outstanding contributions as from Iceland like "Sjúbídú" by Anna Mjöll in 1996 (13th), "Minn Hinsti Dans" by Paul Oscar in 1997 (20th place) and "This Is My Life" by Euroband in 2008 (14th). Due to the large international competition it has become more important to stand out of the others. Therefore the Icelandic have developed a special view in particular to the stage performance. In the last four years, Iceland has been very successful; it has always qualified for the grand final.
