Participant(s): Tooji Song:Stay Writer(s) & Composer(s): Tooji, Figge Boström & Pelle Boström |
Introduction Norway’s pre selection show is called “Melodi Grand Prix” and has developed an enormous success over the years. There are several selection shows and one big final in Oslo. At the end the Norwegians have chosen Tooji, a young charismatic singer with Iranian roots. He has also experience in hosting an MTV programme and he is a model as well. The song “Stay” is a modern dance song which has been written by a Swedish composer team Peter and Figge Boström, who have also composed “In the club” for Danny Saucedo, “Manboy” for Eric Saade and been working with artists like Charlotte Perelli , Alcazar, Magnus Carlsson and Ola Svensson. Of course there are some similarities to other songs, especially the arrangement, choreography and music style remembers to Eric Saade’s “Popular” who came 3rd for Sweden, last year in Düsseldorf. So the 12 points from might be granted. History This year, Norway celebrates its 51st anniversary in regards of participations in the Eurovision Song Contest. In the past Norway had the bad luck being last or ending up with zero points, but things have changed. Altogether there have been three victories: “La de swinge” by Bobbysocks in 1985, “Nocturne” by Secret Garden in 1995 and “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak in 2009. Beside of that there were 16 Top 10 places, so there is nothing to complain about. The most memorable performances out of these were: “Do Re Mi” by Jahn Teigen in 1983 (9th rank), “Alle mine tankar” by Silje Vige in 1993 (5th rank) and “I Evighet” by Elisabeth Andreassen in 1996 (2nd rank). There have only been two years, Norway did not qualify for the grand final in 2007 and 2011.
