Like in the years before the national broadcaster BHRT has made an internal selection for the ESC. The new representative for this year is Maya Sar with the song “Korake ti znam”. The song will probably not be sung in English, which means “Steps you know”. This is a calm ballad with an intense melancholic and touching atmosphere. Singers from the Balkan region normally enjoy the success from all the neighbour countries, so that it’s quite natural that the votes will fly from one to another country, especially when there is a song from high quality. And there are very good and strong songs from the neighbour countries as well. The beautiful singer Maya with her soft and gentle song will definitely capture the hearts of the juries and TV viewers. History This is the 18th time for Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest already! The debut entry in 1993 was “Sva Bol Svijeta” by Fazla and made the 16th place. Before that Bosnia & Herzegovina has been a part of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia had its debut in 1961, the last Yugoslav entry was “Ljubim Te Pesmama” by Extra Nena in 1992, which reached the 13th place in Malmo. There was one victory for Yugoslavia in 1989 “Rock me” by Riva. In the meantime Bosnia & Herzegovina has become a strong contender and an ESC can’t live without the votes from Sarajevo anymore. Unbelievable that this country has such a persistence in competing year after year with outstanding contributions. The Bosnian & Herzegovinian songs made it six times into the top 10 and all the songs have been qualifying into the grand finals. The most outstanding songs from Bosnia & Herzegovina were: “Putnici” by Dino and Beatrice in 1999 (7th), “Lejla” by Hari Mata Hari in 2006 (3rd) and “Thunder & Lightning” by Vukasin Brajic in 2010 (17th).
