Participant(s): Ivi Adamou Song:La La Love Writer(s) & Composer(s): Alex Papaconstantinou, Bjorn Djupström, Alexandra Zakka & Viktor Svensson |
Introduction This year the Cypriot TV has determined the singer Ivi Adamou early in advance and took three songs from different composers. The song “La La Love” has been written by a Swedish composer and convinced the tv viewers and the jury by a strom to represent Cyprus in Azerbaijan. The very beautiful singer Ivi is celebrated as Cyprus big hope already. In various clips you can see that she is professional in everything she is doing. Her sexy appearance with her smile will certainly draw a lot of attention to her performance in Baku. There is a strong melody in the song with a fast rhythm and a very memorable chorus and a drum interlude which brings some Cypriot roots into this disco song. This tune could get the status of being called “Summer Hit”. History Since the first Cypriot entry had it’s debut in 1981 “Monika” by Island (6th rank), Cyprus has showed an enormous musical diversification. There has been pop, folk, dance and ballads in the 29-years ESC-history. And one thing has always accompanied all Cypriot entries and that is the warm-hearted Mediterranean mentality and soul. Unfortunately, the best rank was #5 and that happened three times: “Mono I Agapi” by Anna Vissi in 1982, “Mana Mou” by Chara & Andreas Konstantinou in 1997 and “Stronger Every Minute” by Lisa Andreas in 2004. Since the Semi Finals have been introduced Cyprus only passed it three times out of eight. Even with the classical 12-points-help from Greece, a qualification is not always granted.
