Participant(s): Donny Monteil Song:Love is blind Writer(s): Brandon Stone & Jodie Rose Composer(s): Brandon Stone |
Introduction Lithuania had a quite extensive national selection process with several heats and many songs. Donny Monteil has tried to win the national final several times but this year he finally made it with “Love is blind”. Probably the best song has won this time, which also has a good international standard. Last year’s entry has been a bit old fashioned, but this year it’s contemporary with good chances for the qualification, a mid-tempo pop song with a strong chorus and a very sympathetic singer. History For Lithuania it’s the 13th time in the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku this year. The debut entry “Lopsine Mylimai” by Ovidijus Vysniauskas in 1994 came last with zero points – not a good start. While the Baltic neighbour countries Estonia and Latvia had a better hand in successful Eurovision entries with two victories, Lithuania never shaped up that well. The best place Lithuania could achieve was the 6th “We are the winners” by LT United in 2006. At least Lithuania has qualified four times for the grand final. The most outstanding songs were “Strazdas” by Aiste in 1999 (20th), “Love or leave” by 4Fun in 2007 (21st) and “East European Funk” by InCulto in 2010.
