Introduction

There has been an internal selection of the national Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG. The singer has the funny name Rambo Amadeus and the song is called “Euro-Neuro”. This is quite a strange and unusual entry. Judging by the video clip, the singer makes a joke of himself riding a donkey throughout the beautiful landscape of Montenegro. Maybe the donkey is the coolest part of the song, but due to the EBU regulations it’s not allowed to bring animals on stage.

The song itself is more like a chant with a rap-rhythm. As always it all depends on the live performance in Baku. The only chance for qualification would be a bombastic show, as the chorus will probably not be remembered anymore.

History

In the short history of Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest it’s only the fourth time yet. Montenegro has also taken part two times as Serbia & Montenegro 2004 and 2005, this has been indeed very successful “Lane Moje” by Željko Joksimović in 2004 (2^nd) and “Zauvijek Moja” by No Name in 2005 (7^th).

Before as Yugoslavia, which had the debut in 1961 in Cannes with “Neke Davne Zvezde” by Ljiljana Petrovic (8^th rank). There was one victory for Yugoslavia in 1989 with “Rock me” by Riva. Unfortunately, Montenegro has never made it into the grand final. Even with the help of the other ex-Yugoslav countries it did not reach the final.

German composer Ralph Siegel has also attempted to bring some success to the Mediterranean country with “Just get out of my life” by Andrea Demirovic in 2009 (11^th in the semi final) but it did not work out. The other songs have mainly been unglamorous rock songs like “Ajde Kroci” by Stevan Faddy in 2007 (21^st in the semi final) and “Zauvijek Volim Te” by Stefan Filipović in 2008 (14^th in the semi final). Maybe the composers did have not the right hand of composing something for an international audience in the ESC.
