Participant(s): Cezar Song: It's My Life Writer(s): Cristian Faur Composer(s): Cristian Faur |
Introduction There has been a grand national final in Romania with twelve acts. With a margin of one point Cezar could overtake the competitors. Even Luminata Angel, who has reached a 3rd place in Kiev 2005, has been referred to the third place in this Romanian final. The full name of Cezar is Florin Cezar Oatu. Cezar was born in Romania 1980 and grew up in a family of musicians, so it was clear for him to start a career in music. He studied at the academy of music and arts and received a diploma in piano and choral conducting. In his career he has been working for the Milan conservatory, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and received several prices and awards for his counter tenor voice. Cezar is a respected opera singer who is used to win contests. With his participation a real unusual song will enter the contest in Malmö. “It’s My Life” is pop song with a brash counter tenor voice, a bit antiquated though. This is not the first time that a kind of opera – pop song will be in the ESC, 2009 Bulgaria has send Krassimir Avramov with “Illusion”, this song reached a 16th place in the semi final only. It will be interesting if this kind of song with a counter tenor voice can persist in this year’s competition. Due to the fact Cezar is a much respected opera singer, the ESC might not be best suitable competition?
History Participations: 15 Debut: 1994 Biggest success: 2x 3rd place 2005 “Let Me Try” by Luminita Anghel & Sistem, 2010 “Playing With Fire” by Paula Selving & Ovi, 1x 4th place, 1x 9th place, 1x 10th place This year it will be the 15th time for Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest. The debut entry “Dincolo di Nori” by Dan Bittman in 1994 only made the 21st place. Romania’s entries distinguished modern and up to date songs. With a little help of the neighbour countries, it was always possible for Romanian entries to qualify for the grand finals. Two times Romania could reach the third place with “Let me try” by Luminita Anghel & Sistem in 2005 and “Playing with Fire” by “Paula Seling & Ovi” in 2010. Other outstanding songs were “Eu cred” by Malina Olinescu in 1998 (22nd) who passed away early 2012, “Tornero” by Miahi Traistariu in 2006 (4th) and “I admit” by Sanda Ladosi in 2004 (18th). |
