Participant(s): Aliona Moon Song: O Mie Writer(s): Yuliana Scutaru Composer(s): Pasha Parfeny |
Introduction There has been a national final in Moldova this year. The Moldovan broadcaster TRM has hosted a high quality show with 24 competitors. The winner of the night was the new rising star in Moldova: Aliona Moon with the song “O Mie” (A Million), with which she will represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. Aliona was born in 1989 in the Moldovan capital Chisenau. Her real name is Aliona Muntenau. At an early age she was interested in singing, together with her mother she was singing ethnic songs and lullabies from her home country. Later she performed with several groups and was attending music festivals also abroad in Romania, etc. In the casting show Fabrica De Starui 2 (Fame Academy) she reached the third place. She was also part of the pop group Thumbs Up, which does not exist anymore. Last year Aliona accompanied Pasha Parfeny on the Eurovision stage in Baku as a background singer. The funny thing is that Pasha is accompanying Aliona this time in Malmö, playing the piano. Pasha has also composed the song. The song “A Million” is a beautiful ballad sung by the very attractive young singer Aliona. She is also famous for her extraordinary outfits. At the national final in Moldova she was wearing a dress which was able to be illuminated like the Azerbaijani contribution in Baku by Sabina Babayeva, which was very impressive. For the first time in history, Moldova will have a classic Eurovision ballad, in recent years the songs were very contemporary and mostly reached the grand final. With this strong entry, Moldova will have a secure position in the grand final in Malmö. Congratulations to this wonderful choice.
History Participations: 9 Debut: 2005 Biggest success: 1x 6th place 2005 “Boonika Bate Toba” by Zdob si Zdub, 1x 10th place Moldova takes part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005 and this year it will be the 9th time. The debut song “Boonika Bate Toba” by Zdob si Zdub has made the best place in the ESC history for Moldova – the 6th place! From that great start Moldova made it mostly in into the grand final, only one year in 2008 they did not make it. Moldova benefits greatly from the neighbour countries votes. Often the singers are also well known in the countries around Moldova. The most outstanding songs were: “Fight” by Natalia Barbu in 2007 (10th), “Hora Din Moldova” by Nelly Ciobanu in2009 (14th) and “So Lucky” by Zdob si Zdub again in 2011 (12th).
