Participant(s): Nina Song: Caroban Writer(s): Kristina Kovac Composer(s): Kristina Kovac |
For Serbia it is going to be the 5th entry in Eurovision as a single state. Before Serbia was performing with the neighbor country Montenegro together as Serbia & Montenegro, and even before as Yugoslavia. At that time Yugoslavia participated 27 times since 1961. The biggest success was “Rock me” by Riva (#1) in 1989. In 2007 Marija Šerifovicf enthused the entire Europe with the beautiful ballad called “Molitva”. Serbia was very proud to win this contest and the following year showed the enthusiasm of the Serbians to host a wonderful show in Belgrade. Thanks to all the ex-Yugoslavian neighbor countries which are quite eager to vote for each other, Serbia has a higher chance to qualify for the final as other countries like e.g. Lithuania. This is called “Balkan Connection” at Eurovision, additionally there are many people from the Balkan countries living all over Europe. Only in 2009 they did not make it into the final. The 21-years old singer Nina has clearly won the national final in Belgrade. The very catchy and optimistic song “Caroban” is called “Magical” in English. The song has been written by a very famous Serbian composer family: the Kovac’s. Judging by the video clip, the whole arrangement is very 60’s, the colors, the music and the way Nina dances – its swing with a lovely melody and a very happy chorus. This will be the first real highlight of the semi final this year and if the stage performance is great, there is no doubt of passing the final.
