Participant(s): Kati Wolf Song: What About My Dreams? Writer(s): Péter Geszti, Johnny K. Palmer Composer(s): Viktor Rakonczai, Gergo Rácz |
One of the more sporadic participants of the Eurovision Song Contest is Hungary. 1994 was biggest enhancement year when the list of participants has been increased with many Eastern European countries like Russia, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. In that year there were a lot of positive surprises, Poland came 2nd and Hungary 4th with”Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet” by Frederika, a beautiful calm song. The first three highest votes of the evening went to Hungary, at the end Ireland won the contest, even though a huge success. Obviously, the new countries have been appreciated very much in the contest. Since then Hungary participated seven times, but not regularly. There were great entries like “Forogj Világ” by NOX (#12) in 2005, “Ùj Nèv Egy Règi Hàz Fàlan “ by Czaba Szigeti (#22) and “Unsubstantial Blues” by Magdi Rúzsa (#9) which were favoured. Last time Hungary take part in 2009 the disco song “Dance with me” by Adok Zoli did not pass the semi final. This year could be the year for Hungary! Unless there was no public decision, the Hungarian TV MTV has determined the singer and song internally. But they made a wise choice by sending Kati Wolf with the song “What about my dreams?” to Düsseldorf. The song is danceable and catchy pop song, which really has hit potential. This could be the summer hit of 2011. Kati’s song is also being favorized by many people already. With these kind of songs, there is the risk of crash down, like the “Kate-Ryan-phenomenon”, which means, highly favorized but not passing the semi final. Let’s hope that this song will qualify to bring the Hungarian colour to the big final. Good luck Hungary!
